Google Subscription Tier Downgrade
Subscription: Google Workspace – Business Edition
Change Type: Tier Downgrade
From: Business Standard
To: Business Starter
Reason: Cost-optimization aligned with current user/storage requirements
Effective Immediately:
- Downgraded user licenses from Standard to Starter.
- Storage allocation reduced from 2 TB per user (Standard) to 30 GB per user (Starter) pooled storage.
- Video / Meet participant cap likely reduced (Standard supports up to 150 participants; Starter supports up to 100).
- Advanced features available in Standard (e.g., enhanced Meet recording, advanced AI integration, larger storage pool) will no longer apply under Starter.
Action Items:
- Notify all affected user seats of feature changes and storage limitations.
- Review current storage usage across the organization to ensure no key users exceed 30 GB quota or risk service disruption.
- Confirm billing change in the Google Admin console and update internal budget line items.
- Monitor for any service impact (e.g., meeting recordings, large file sharing) and decide backup or alternative workflows as needed.
